The lineage goes back to 'Orion' (or, indeed, his brother - another story).

Of the two brothers (Imported 1997), one male matured into a much larger individual. This difference seems to be passed onto the progeny as the dark female is a mere 330 gram whilst her sis. is 415 gram.

Obviously, feeding has influenced the growth rate of the pale female. However, her desire to be up-graded onto larger food items did proceed at an earlier stage.

Yes, it could just be an individual 'thing'. But, the history is being repeated with a couple of Pewter males (keepers 2006), one larger even although the feeding schedule is the same.

The point being. I am considering mating the pale female this year, against my normal rule of waiting until 3 years of maturity (+ the appropriate weight of over 400 grams).
