hey
my opinion
That is the sadest thing iv seen in a long time.
Creating hybrids takes knowlege in the breeding responces of the species that are to be crossed and not just taped up and thrown together.
doing what you have done could have long lasting afects on the cali king you have taped up, you dont often see a cali play dead thats for sure.
you have allready said that the cali hooked with a male of its own type and by doing what you have done will add a masive amount of stress for the female.
it wouldnt surprise me if you have breeding complications with that female in the future and she will more than likely lay slugs this season due to the stress , and probably end up a more aggresive snake in the process.
when hybridizing you cant mate snakes that dont want to breed with whats on offer, if one dosnt go for it then try another and so on until you find compatable pairs that are willing to cross mate without being forced, its hard enough getting good viable clutches at the best of times without putting massive stress into the factor.
iv seen a few females spoilt by what you are trying, snakes that were fantastic breeders giving 100% clutch rates then after being socked and raped producing 100% slugs and egg binding with higher aggresion and different types of panic when introduced to mate along with a lower feeding responce.
i know people are going to try these sorts of things in the hope to produce some fantastic hybrids but their are plenty of snakes out their that will gladly cross over for you without having to be forced, these snakes are what you want, it takes time and lots of patients to create hybrids.
Just my view.
Paul.
