Cohoe's eggs are almost done pipping. I have at least one dead in the egg. The egg was shriveled up and hard so I decided to see what was in it expecting to find a hard goopy mass. To my surprise it was a perfectly formed hatchling that was dead and the yolk had hardened. Very sad. I couldn't bring myself to take photos especially since my daughter was in tears after I explained to her that one of the coral snows was deformed and would be put down. The hatchling has a few kinks and its cloaca is closed. You can see the bladder - it looks like a blister on the ventrum right above the tail since it is so full. I have 5 more eggs left to pip but I think they will not and I will find what I found in the other egg I opened tonight. I will wait for about another day and then start making slits. I had a heat spike and it has obviously taken its toll on this clutch. On the other hand I have 20 hatchlings that so far seem fine. Now all they have to do is eat!
Here's a pile of hatchlings!
