They're beautiful Mary. The more I see of hondos, the more I'm fascinated by them.
At what age do they grow out of that secretive stage? Our Nelsonii female who is a year is just now 'allowing' me to view her as she cruises the tank in the evening.
The female hondo, also a year old, will only allow you to view her thru the clear tub. As soon as you open the lid to water or fed, off she scoots under the aspen.
Neither of the males want to be seen at all except on feeding day.
Interesting part is the male Nelson (06 model) from Nette likes to be held while he wolfs down his small fuzzy from the paper towel. Jeff has to take him out of the viv to eat, shows him where the prey is, and then he latches on while Jeff still holds him. When we just put prey on the lid in his viv, he shows no interest. Peaches, our now year old female Nelson was exactly the same when she first came to us.
You are so right about the vast differences in personalities from corns...but they certainly are special in their own way.
