question on housing

Hi, I have a 55 gallon aquarium that I am wanting to divide for hatchling snakes. I was thinking of using plexiglass dividers held in place and sealed with some type of silicone. What do you think? If I wait several days after the sealant is dry will the fumes still be harmful? Any other ideas? I have smaller 10 gallon aquariums I can use but my 55 gallon is so nice looking on it's wooden stand that I'd love to be able to show off my babies. Safety first though so I'd like opinions and advice. Thanks!
