Question humidity and a corn snake

hi,
i posted here a couple of weeks ago to help a friend with her corn snake, and then i ended up adopting an albino adult corn snake myself, 2 weeks ago. i have been bad about misting because when i misted the snake, it did *not* like it. i do have a large bowl of water in the cage, and he does go in there. however, i did not realize how important humidity was to snakes! so today i filled a large sterilite tub with 3 inches of water, and put "snowball" in. i think he liked it! after 15 mins or so, (and he almost escaped during this time because i left the lid off... )... then i put him back in his cage all hydrated! i hope he is going to be ok!!! SO my QUESTION is: how often should i mist him and the inside of the cage, AND how often should i let him have a fun 'bath"?
thanks so much!
