Don't downplay yourself like that Christina.......you have support here.
Welcome to the site, I think after seeing plenty of pictures with people holding their snakes and reading stories of all the members and their animals.........you will find out that the snakes aren't really that bad. Alot of peoples significant others who used to be terrified of snakes are not handling them like they were worms. It's also good that you have come here
before getting your snake so you will be able to learn about the best avenues to take for a healthy corn........and the mistakes not to make along the way. I have given you a few links below that will get you started in the right direction. I would put money on it that you may catch the "addiction" that most others tend to catch......and have multiple snakes down the road.
