Unhappy No pewter babies for me this year...

I found Sayen, my female blood het charcoal, dead yesterday evening. 2 losses this year from out of brumation and 2 RI cases. Not my year. I hope the rest will go better. She was bought last year and was still a bit small. She refused to eat after her first meal and 2 weeks later, she is found dead.

So since I was planing of breeding her to Swami, my pewter male and the other breedings he will do are for hets babies, it seems I will not produce pewters this year after all...

That's a shame, i feel for you. It's not pleasant loosing a pet especially when there no reason or warning. I hope the rest of the breeding season goes better for you......

Oh Caroline, I'm so sorry to hear about this loss. Such a shock to you for sure. This year was the first that I tried any sort of brumation and it was only for 4 weeks. I was worried the whole time.

Dang this 'Winter of '07'; it's taking its toll on a few Canadian breeders.

Hope the rest of the breeding season goes perfectly for you. You deserve it.

Ruth

Darn, Caroline. I'm so sorry to hear about Sayen! I bet she was a beautiful girl, and would have made some gorgeous little pewters. I hope the rest of the 2007 breeding season goes well for you.

So sorry to hear this Caroline - always hard to lose one of the collection. I was very nervous the first year that I brumated but have never had any health problems resulting from it. Hope the rest of your group does well and those with RI recover,

Ouch... that sucks. How far did that set you back, project-wise? Hopefully not far. Sorry to hear.
