Three cheers for the little guy

I'm soo psyched!!

Well, I really didn't think this little guy would breed this year - or perhaps if he did - a 2nd clutch later in the year - after he had grown a bit more. He surprised me for sure breeding at this size!!

The little guy came out of brumation at exactly 100g and has had an excellent appetite & continued to gain weight well. He was a late hatch from VMS stock & has always had an excellent appetite - he has just always been a few months behind in age

Sooo.. details.....
The male is Butter (66% poss het stripe, Anery A, Hypo)
Female is Butter Motley (bred to Granite het hypo last year - so probably not Hypo or Anery A - as there were all normals in that clutch)

Expected offspring: (If the male is het stripe) ... if... if... *crosses fingers* ... if...
---------------------------------------------------
50.00% Butter (het. Motley)
50.00% Butter, MotleyXStripe

I have heard young males have a lower fertility than more mature males, so after this first breeding, I let him rest a few days. Then I co habitated him with the female for 4 days, then a break. And another few days together... Have to wait now and see.

I also bred the same female with my Granite male ... soooo... if the butter male did not fertilize all the eggs.... I should get 100.00% Normal (het. Amelanistic, het. Anerythristic, het. Bloodred, het. Caramel, het. Motley, 50% poss. het. Hypomelanistic). I have a bunch of yearling's from that breeding last year growing up now

The last photo is a hatching from her clutch last year with the granite male .
