Last year my female okeetee didn't even take an interest in breeding until the middle of May. Because of that, I wasn't planning on putting any males with her until then (If I decided to breed her this year...I wasn't really sure) Anyway, I went to check her water yesterday and there were 20 little acorn shaped slugs in her tub. Too bad she had to waste all that energy making those eggs for nothing. I think after this, I am gonna brumate my breeding females so that I will have a better idea of ovulation and all that. All in all, I think it was actually a good lesson. between her and the freak late winter/early spring clutch, I have a new respect for the value of brumating breeders. I'm done rambling now. Feel free to comment if you have anything interesting to add.
