Questions!

ok so im new and after a long wait and a trailing period where i thought i had lost all my eggs to dehydration I came home to 1 new hatchling and 1 that had split its egg open but was still only peaking outside than going back in. So first question is what is pipping? 2nd question is how long between the first one hacthing till the rest do? Do I need to watch out for anything during this time and help any along or will nature basically take care of itself if i let it? thanks for taking the time to read and respond for a poor ignorant snake lover =)
