About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I started lowering the temperatures in my snake room to brumate the breeders. It was pretty cold here, so it was easy to control the temperature in the room.
However, the last week has been unseasonably warm and, although I personally love it (I hate the cold and snow), I'm having a stressful time because of it. I cannot get the temperature in my snake room to get below 16 celsius at night (60.8 degrees) and 18 celsius during the day (64.4 degrees).
What are my options at this temperature? Is it cool enough to brumate and still have healthy animals? Can I bring them out of brumation and then drop the temperatures again when it gets cooler outside? Or should I just pull them out of brumation all together?
The only other way to cool the room off, is to open a window. But I don't want to have drafts coming into the room that will make the temperature significantly uneven. My fiance and I work too much to be able to be home to open and close the window when the weather changes (and in Alberta, the weather can make drastic changes in a matter of minutes).
