Sperm Retention -- How long?
Will a female hold sperm for a whole year?
Here is the case. Have an adult female bred last march to a proven male. This male had bred quite a few others before i got him. She builds weight but i could never feel any follicles and she lever laid any eggs. This year I have put her in with another male. No copulation has been witnessed and I have reason to suspect it did not take place. She is now huge and lumpy and in shed. Could she have held the sperm for a year? I guess anything is possible but is it probable? |
