soft furred rats in alberta?

Hi does anyone know if it is illegal to keep these guys in alberta? All I could find in regards to this was that norway rats are a no no, but nothing about soft furs ( Praomys natalensis). Any help anyone could give me would be great!

The law says we can't own anything under the genus rattus (sp) which these guys are not. If WE (albertans) called them something else like African Soft Furred Mice there would be no issue whatsoever.
