While we're on the hybrid subject... (yes I dug up this post for a reference XD)...
What are MBK x Corns called? Have they been done?
HOW CAN YOU DO IT!? Well, any of these in which there's a possibility of one eating the other...
Is there a preference to have one sex over the other? IE not wanting the smaller to be a female because of egg size?
And lastly...
Why are hybrids so frowned upon? I think they're a neat concept and if I'm gonna be disliked for doing it I wanna know why! lol
Yes, MBK/corn has been done. I don't know that they have an established trade name yet. They look pretty cool, but the MBK influence does not make a black corn, from what I've seen in the F1. Maybe it will have more influence in later generations, but not so far.
People can be anti-hybrid for many reasons. I think most would agree that it comes down to honesty. If you know it's a hybrid and sell it as a hybrid, who's to say that the person you sold it to isn't going to forget or lie and re-sell it as pure? If you don't know it's a hybrid and start breeding it into "pure" lines, then there is mixed blood and weird things crop up down the line and can ruin projects and attempts to keep lines pure. There is an argument about purity in the corn world, since so much breeding has gone on with various ratsnake species, either domestically or in the wild. Other people have other reasons, but I think most issues with hybrids comes down to honesty.

Oh, well that's understandable.... but I think if I were to buy a hybrid it would be *because* it was a hybrid... I thought that's why they were bought? I guess you just gotta be careful who you sell it to...
I guess those who breed WC corns have the same problem... you have no clue who's been there...
I couldn't find where I posted this before.......then again, it has probably become outdated so here is a new ad that will give you some idea. Whenever this one becomes extinct, you could always just check into their website.

Wow! Thank you!
Can you imagine what that kind of pattern would look like with Miami, Okeetee, or Lavender influence???
I'm so giving into the dark side... I don't care who hates me.
I'm hoping at some point to do Abbott Okeetee x Corn.
I've heard the MBK x Corn cross called "Black Forest Corns" but I don't think that is established as a "trade name" - I like it though.
Next year my only suitable female MBK gets bred to MBK but perhaps in 2010.
I'd also like to do Zonata X GBK but I don't have either.
