Hehehe, yes, it does take this long and longer. (This is a huge reason why this egg cam exists, to stress this point to new breeders and potentially save some hatchlings that may have otherwise been pressured out of the egg too soon.)
My hatchlings will leave the egg on average 24 hours after they pip. (This may range from 1/2 to 1 1/2 days, but usually they're out a day after they pip.) They pip, then sit back and breathe for a day while absorbing their yolk. If you were to tease them out right away, you'd see an umbilicus attached to a good-sized yolk sac. By the time they leave the egg, they've completely internalized this nutritious first meal and it's a huge step towards a healthy hatchling. Some leave a tad early and you'll see the umbilicus perhaps attached to a tiny bit of what's left of the yolk and this may be normal, but they shouldn't leave earlier than that.
What's really frustrating, if you're watching the cam, is that they'll sit there motionless for a day, then leave the egg over a matter of just a few minutes. Some are shy, and only have the nose out until they leave in a rush. Others are move curious and will put their head and neck out to explore, than retreat, explore, retreat, etc. They've got their own personalities, even then.
Well now I know. Now that I know how long to wait I can wait. I'm the kind of person who can't stand not knowing how long something is going to take, but I can have LOTS of patience if I have a good idea about how long it's going to take. Thanks. Now I can be plenty patient.

HE POKED HIS WHOLE HEAD OUT!!!! WAY OUT! He's looking all around! Up, left, right, back in. I started yelling and Kristi came running! He's got it out pretty far! Like, umm, a full egg length. Ok, sorry. I was just shutting down my computer for the night and didn't expect to see anything fun. Well, the excitement seems to be over, and I'm not going to stay up to wait for the next bout, but that was really fun! Simple minds . . . Fun way to end the evening, though. L word, followed by unexpected pippie activity. 'Night!

That is way cool..................I think I am seeing him/her make their grand entrance into the world right now. Will be soooo cool to one day watch my own results. Congrats on a new year of hatchlings.
