Serp's 2007 pairings

I hope to have some stuff on the Eggcam here and there, too, but it will be a while since my first clutch only arrived on New Year's Eve.

Following will be a list of what is going on this year. My main projects involve making normals, anerys, hypos, and ghosts het for phantom motley. I should have several different clutches of these. (Amel is also in several of the adults so there will be amels and poss hets mixed in.) Even my female charcoal het hypo pewter is going into this project, so I don't plan to make any hypo pewters this year. (However, it also means the hypos from that clutch will be het phantom motley and poss het pewter. )

I plan to sell my hatchlings on Critter Auction again this year, and they'll be going at least to their second shed before I put them up for sale. So from the time of egglaying it's going to be in the ballpark of 15+ weeks before they are available.

Size: 75.6 KB

This is the first year breeding for each of them. Orgazmo, the male, is the lighter colored one with the nice long saddles.

11 eggs, laid Dec 31st, Due to hatch March 7th. If I get any good sun lavs out of this group I will be keeping them. But I should have a handful of lavs poss het sunkissed, and sunkissed poss het lav.

Update: Hatched March 4th, 7 normals, 2 sunkisseds, 1 lavender aztec.

Seven X Pinky - Normal het amel, anery, hypo, motley X Snow het hypo motley

This is a repeat of a cross I did in 2002 that I've been wanting to repeat. Seven is Pinky's son, and the two of them both have very clean, regular patterns. Pinky's getting up there in years and I'd like to have a hypo motley or ghost motley from her, to eventually "replace" her when she is finally retired from breeding.

8 eggs, laid Jan 6th, due to hatch March 11. All combinations of amel, anery, hypo, and motley are possible.

Adson X Bonnie - Phantom het anery X Anery Motley het hypo & amel.

This is one of the "Phantom Motley" project clutches. Adson is the father of those great phantoms Hurley has hatched. Bonnie is a sweetheart, a ravenous feeder, and has a nice even pattern with long saddles. (And a head pattern that would make Austin Powers blush.)

Strong Bad X Garthina - Sunkissed X Strawberry

10 eggs, laid Jan 12, due to hatch March 17. I borrowed Hurley's Strong Bad for this obligatory test, we are basically starting from scratch to "prove" strawberry out as either a selectively bred look or an actual recessive gene. Last year we proved it is not an allele to amel/ultra and Don S proved it is not an allele to hypo. This cross will prove it is not an allele to sunkissed. All that remains is a cross to lava, and a cross producing F2s which shows Strawberry and Normal phenotypes. Will it? (We don't know.)

10 eggs, laid Jan 13, due to hatch March 24. Last year this project produced a sunkissed caramel and a sunkissed caramel motley. We are really hoping for a sunkissed motley this year. The quad hets are owned by Don and on breeding loan to us, so anything "special" that hatches will certainly be kept again this year. However, last year we let go of some sunkissed and amel motleys and a caramel motley (poss het all the other stuff)

15 eggs, laid Jan 16, due to hatch March 27. Expecting normals, diffused, amel, anery, fire, granite, and avalanche. This is a very exciting cross for me, these two have such beautiful colors and I always manage to take such unflattering pictures of them. In 2006 they produced Marklar and Caroline's "Fire!" corn, among others. This year I will be holding back the entire clutch to observe their color development, probably until fall.

12 eggs, laid Jan 17th, due to hatch March 28. Charley is being bred to a hypo this year to prove he is a hypo motley. If I can retain the bright smooth colors into the F2, I believe this project will yield some gorgeous sunkissed motleys and especially sunkissed hypo motleys.

13 eggs, laid Jan 17th, due to hatch March 28. I just can't take poss hets and have to find out. Gonzo has also thrown some offpsring with extremely dark colors and I'd like to see what he does when crossed to this particular female.
