We had a bunch of these little leftover 8" X 24" pieces so I decided to make a gladware shelving unit with them tonight.
Here's the finished rack. It's 6 feet high, 2 feet wide (not soft as a downy chick) and only 8 inches from front to back so I had to put "feet" on it to keep it from easily tipping.
It has 19 shelves at 3 boxes per shelf for 57 boxes total. It's unheated and we'll be keeping it in the "warm room" since it'd be too easy to cook or freeze them in the basement trying to regulate heat in such a small space.
I decided given the amount of materials we had on hand (lots of small pieces of hardboard and screws) that this would be the easiest way to ensure they don't get pushed too far to the back.
I have some more shelves left over that I pulled off the previous rack I rebuilt, and plan to make one of these for my own hatchlings too.
OOOOhhhhhh god. I'm just off to bed and I'm now going to be lying awake singing that song, trying to remember what, exactly, all of the words are. It could be a long night . . .
