Most of the girls are in their pre-lay shed so thought I would do one post with photos of some of the pairs this year-
First clutch was designed to produce buttercreams from the female Chowder - a creamsicle het caramel I produced 3 years ago bred to Craven, a caramel het amel - I am also expecting some caramelcreams from this one - if the het caramels this male produced last year are any indication, these should be stunning. No photo of the couple together, but here they
Chowder - creamsicle het caramel
Craven - caramel het amel
Chowder's sister, Regina was bred to an amel motley het caramel male - Zilla - expecting creams and buttercreams het motley from this pair

The pair together
And putting some butter influence into my F1 rootbeers - Mugzy is from a creamsicle X Great plains ratsnake breeding and she was paired up with a young butter male - Dragon this year
Mugzy
Dragon
The pair together - though he was a young male he wasted no time -
And taking the F1 rootbeer line into stripes - an amel striped corn Picante was bred to Dubya - a brother to Mugzy above

The couple
And the remaining female rootbeer - Alba - from this clutch was bred back to her father - Cheddar. This male was proven het for hypo, so this will test this female out for cinnamon - I have my fingers crossed on this one

The couple
And finally a striped amel female - Pace was bred to Spike - a male I produced 3 years ago from Cheddar and a normal striped corn - Spike has great color and I am looking forward to some striped creams from this clutch

Now just have to get all these girls through their shed and the laying process - the next few weeks will be exciting for me here -
thanks for looking,
mary v.

Can you tell me what a buttercream looks like? ( sounds yummy )
Does sound like candy doesn't it? I have seen a few pics of buttercreams (butter emoryi/corns) and they basically look like butter corns, but I like the size and vigor influences of the creamsicle lines. I am not sure whether the creamsicle influence will have much impact on saddle color and contrast between saddle and background in the butter version. I am hoping to reduce the border width and side pattern, perhaps get some with reduced belly pattern as well.
I really like how the het caramel rootbeers turned out from this male last year, and I think the caramelcreams (caramel emoryi/corns) will be even nicer than the buttercreams.

These are two of the rootbeer het caramel hatchlings from last year - with this much color in the het caramel, the full caramel should be very nice - I think the reduced red that we see with emoryi influence tends to let more of the golden tones show through.

Wow Mary, I don't know how I missed your last post in here. Sorry. Those a really nice. FYI: I am trying to convince my boyfriend that a creamsicle would be really nice for our ghost. I have been sending him links to all the rootbeers. LOL.

I am very pleased with how these guys turned out - still have a couple girls from that clutch and given that their father was bred to one of my het caramel creams this year, I can hardly wait til that clutch hatches - expect the full caramels to be even better colored than these het caramels.
