Have to show off a few of the Hondurans we have here - very different temperament from corns, but if you can get past the fact that they are secretive and nervous as hatchlings, by the tie they are a year or two old they have settled down very well. And nothing compares with a 6 foot long, red and black snake.
Carmen - another tangerine - about 5 feet long now and not nearly as mellow as Rumba - but a great producer
Lupe - a tricolor albino female - she is old enough to breed this spring and may be paired with a tangerine het albino male
Nemo - a tangerine albino - my dream snake - he arrived 3 years ago and sired his first clutch this spring
and the ghost males - still a relatively uncommon morph here in Canada - TwoFour will be paired up with a daughter of Friday's this spring
TwoFour - produced by Terry Dunham - one of the first 3 ghosts hatched
Friday - smaller male with abberant pattern - not as great color or as clean as TwoFour, but still a beautiful animal
hatchlings to follow,

We breed only a very limited number of hondurans - this year's most exciting was a pairing between Nemo, with backup by his brother (tangerine het albino) to a het albino tangerine female. The female has an extreme amount of black tipping - and interestingly it showed up as white tipping on her albino offspring.
Breedings - I wasn't concerned with multiple sires - was more interested in proving out the female as het albino this year
Nemo X Latifa
Hector X Latifa - can see the extent of her dark tipping in this photo - she is trying to become a black milk!
Hatchlings
tangerine albino male with high white tipping
the orange scales show a lot of white
and darker tangerine albino - female!! Love this little girl - she is a keeper!
and a tri-color albino - huge male!
and the tangerines - very similar to their mom - females showing dark tipping that tends to be more prominant in females - even at this age
thanks for looking,
mary v.

Mary, those are amazing. They're all gorgeous. I can see why that darker Tangerine Albino girl is a keeper! It's a good thing I don't have to pick a keeper, cause I'd want to keep them all. I love the looks of Nemo and the Ghosts. Very nice!
They're beautiful Mary. The more I see of hondos, the more I'm fascinated by them.
At what age do they grow out of that secretive stage? Our Nelsonii female who is a year is just now 'allowing' me to view her as she cruises the tank in the evening.
The female hondo, also a year old, will only allow you to view her thru the clear tub. As soon as you open the lid to water or fed, off she scoots under the aspen.
Neither of the males want to be seen at all except on feeding day.
Interesting part is the male Nelson (06 model) from Nette likes to be held while he wolfs down his small fuzzy from the paper towel. Jeff has to take him out of the viv to eat, shows him where the prey is, and then he latches on while Jeff still holds him. When we just put prey on the lid in his viv, he shows no interest. Peaches, our now year old female Nelson was exactly the same when she first came to us.
You are so right about the vast differences in personalities from corns...but they certainly are special in their own way.
Thanks for the kind words everyone - the hondos are a very neat species to work with.
Ruth - they get more confident by the time they are 3-4 years old - they are a secretive species - I don't find that they are out much even though they are housed in tanks and even adults will be quick to dart back to cover if they are startled. They do get to be very easy to handle once they are over 2 years of age though. They really aren't much of a display snake in my experience.
hana - TwoFour was named because it was actually his ID number from the breeder I got him from and it reminded me of the reference to a TwoFour pack of 24 beer!! That is what they always get called around here anyway - not that I drink enough to know! I started calling him that while I was trying to think of a name and it sort of stuck. Friday is named that because he arrived on a Friday and I always like Robinson Crusoe.

Wow, I guess I really don't get out much into other species like I should, cause I keep considering hypo tangerine hondos, and now you've shown me yet another gorgeous albino tanerine hondo. Thanks. That's all I need, another one to put on my wish list... And this year I'm going to Tinley...what are the chances? LOL! Beautiful snakes!
Daaaaaaaamn!!!!! I want a Tangerine Albino pair so bad.... Of all the pics of Hondos I've been searching through, those have become my favorite morph! That has to be the most white tipping I've seen on one yet, very cool effect, if you can get that much on a dark Tangerine.... Wow, talk about some contrast...
