Well. We never really knew for sure what Pinky and Demi were. My boyfriend sexed Pinky as soon as we figured out how. We were pretty sure it was a girl.
Well today, I had a nice glass of wine, and right before we fed Pinky, I decided to sex her again, just to be sure. I had seen it done so simply today, and I thought I could give it a try.
I don't know why I decided to try Pinky, but I did. And somewhat to my horror, and a little bit of satisfaction, out came the hemipenes..(sp). Ok, so we doubled checked the amel we brought home today. Yup. Darn sure. Next was Demi. Oh oh. She really is a female. So we have two 3 month old hatchlings in a terrarium together, of opposite sex. And the Amel has his own home.
It has been told to me that you cannot house two males together. They will fight. Is this true? Or is the rule of thumb of not housing snakes that are very different ages (that aren't mating) together not gender specific?
I am not in a mad panic, but I just don't want to jepoardize any of my snakes well being.
