I was at the Hamilton SPCA today, signing my 7 yr old daughter up for summer camp. When I was there, the animal lover in me had me check out all the animals, rats, cats dogs and other furry 4 legged creatures. I noticed that there weren't any snakes or lizards or anything like that at all. So I asked one of the staff if they ever get any reptiles in, and she told me no - because they are illegal to own in the city of Hamilton.
I have to say I was quite surprised, but made sure not to mention my own snake. She said that it wasn't illegal to sell them, just own them. Apparently people were gathering large collections, and not realizing how big camin crocs and some snakes and lizards can get. The people would try to get rid of them once they got too big.
I really hope that that law isn't enforced too diligently! Guess there won't be any trips to the park for Artemis.
