Announcement to anyone with kids out of Mattie (my Okeetee het sunkissed)

Hey all,

I just want to let you all know if you have kids out of Mattie that she proved to be "S Factored"* today and I believe in full disclosure of any knowledge gained, so here it is.

(*S Factor is the shortest way I could think of to describe that she's heterozygous for star gazing if it is actually a recessive gene, which it's believed to be.)

For more information, visit the stargazing thread in the CCCorns forum about this condition.

Stargazing is believed to be a recessively inherited neurological condition that first cropped up in sunkissed lines and any snake from sunkissed lines as far as I'm concerned is possibly "S Factored" until proven not. We've now got a known S Factored pair of adults to test cross to unknowns and prove out clean lines. So far, Strong Bad, the sunkissed male bred to Mattie last year, is proven clean with no star gazers in 16 eggs.

Summary:
Hets from Strong Bad to Tess (the pewter) in 2006 would be expected to be clear as Strong Bad has tested clear and Tess is a pewter with no known heritage back to Okeetees/Sunkisseds.

Strong Bad's sister, Sibbie, has never been test crossed and I no longer own her, so I can't make any comment on her progeny other than to say her brother was clear and any sunkissed is suspect.

Mattie x Gonzo (2005) and Mattie x Strong Bad (2006) would be expected to be 50% possible S factored.

Sir x Mattie (2007) has produced star gazers, so normal siblings would be 67% possible S factored.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me or post in this thread or the other thread (http://www.cornsnakesource.com/forum...ead.php?t=768).
