The Red Deer Reptile Show and Sale will be held this August 25 and 26 in the Parkland Pavilion at the Westerner Grounds in Red Deer, Alberta. The show hours are Sat and Sun from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Admission to the show is $5 per person and children 12 years and under are free. Like years prior, VIP passes are available for $10 each. The VIP passes allow people to enter the show at 9:00am on Saturday to view the vendors tables before any other non-VIP members of the public can.
Tables for vendors cost $80 each. I am sure that any vendors from last year can give their testimony to how this is money well spent. The show is huge and it is well attended by both members of the public and by vendors from across Canada.

Ok, so this show is only days away!!! I am super psyched! Even more so than I was for the Edmonton one back in May. Mainly because now I have actually talked to some of the vendors that will be there, and I value their opinions and wisdom, and can't wait to meet them . And of course I can't wait to see the snakes that you are all bringing...I just hope I have enough room in the vehicle to fit the family in there after I get all the snakes in...LOL. Someone might have to take the Greyhound.
Yes, we are all getting excited. I leave in the wee hours of tomorrow to begin our journey...a 30 hour trek for us. I actually pass the time while Jeff drives preparing my next seasons breeding plans. This year will be no different. We have to make a couple of stops along the way to drop off corns on our Western Road Trip #3 - 2007 Version... , but hopefully we will be there in time to set up on Friday night. That's when I do most of my shopping... !!!!
It will be great seeing everyone again. My how the year has flown by...where does time go. I know Mary, Annette, Matt and Kylie, Kevin and Denise and Rebecca will be there from this forum as vendors and hopefully we'll see many of you Western corn enthusiasts there as well. We haven't heard from Richard Holyoak in a while so hopefully he'll be there too. Hopefully I didn't forget anyone...my brain is on overload at this point.
Be sure to drop on by our table and introduce yourself. I'm not always good with real names but I do remember the screen monickers very well. So if I look at you blank when you say hi, just shout out your Source nickname and that will set me straight...
Please somebody bring a camera and maybe we can get a 'group shot' for the forum. I will have my camera with me...always do, but forget to get it out half the time unless reminded... .
Almost ready to go but I need to check my list twice...lol...it's a long way to turn around cause I forgot something vital to the show...
See you Western folk very soon! Join in the fun at Western Canada's 'mini Daytona'...you won't be sorry; there's lots to see!
Really looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting new folks this year. The packing starts tonight for all the gear and the snakes go into their travel tubs tomorrow night for an early start on Friday morning. My striped creamsicles are still eggs, but some of each of the other clutches as well as a few yearlings and adults will be making their way west!!
Be sure and drop by to say Hi - I am on my own at my table so don't get to circulate much - but sure look forward to being able to chat with people - see you all there,
mary v.

For anyone going to the show who is aware of the VIP passes the show offers, on Saturday morning we'll be offering a 25% discount on anything on our tables from 9:00am until 10:00am. You'll find that many of the vendors offer discounts for the first hour.
As for the vendors who will be travelling long distances, Kylie, Kevin Letts, and I will be up bright and early on Friday to start setting the venue up long before anyone arrives. We will stick around for a while in the evening to help unload your stuff to make things a little easier for you following your trip. I couldn't imagine a 30 hour trip to make it for a show! That's dedication...and a sure sign that Walter is doing a great job on organizing such a big event.
You'll be impressed with how much advertising he is doing for the show this year, on your way to Red Deer, tune in to Big 105.5, 106.7 The Drive, KG Country 95.5, Zed 99 (98.9), and Sunny 94.3. Beginning at about 6:00am on Friday, Walter will be doing interviews on all five radio stations. I can't remember the order he appears on each station, but I'll find out from him and post it, so you can get psyched up on your way to Red Deer.
25 percent discount you say? Well, I think I might have to rent a u-haul..nuts...I need a hitch for that...who knew so many preparations would go into taking a short trip to Red Deer?
Walter will be doing an interviews on 106.7 The Drive and Big 105.5 on Thursday morning sometime between 8:00am and 9:00am (he isn't sure which station will put him on first).
On Friday he will be doing an interview on Sunny 94.3 between 8:00am and 8:30am.
He did interviews on Zed 99 and KG Country 95.5 this morning and they played the interview throughout the day. All weekend, all of the stations will be advertising for the show and replaying bits of his interviews.
Maybe in the future I will end up vending there.. Until then.. Have fun everyone, and we are expecting pictures and group shots, but keep it clean *LOL*..
