Red Deer Reptile Show Pictures

The show ended this afternoon and it was a big success. Most vendors seemed to have done pretty well and appeared to have a pretty good time. The show was very well organized and well advertised. Attendance was high, even on Sunday, despite the rain.

I didn't get around to taking many pictures, but I will post the ones that I did take.

This is Mark Vanderkop's table. I scored an awesome male Ultramel het caramel off her. It's always a pleasure talking to Mary. On the far left in black in Jasmine Lyster of Canopy Chameleons here in Red Deer; she also has dozens of corns and will be producing some killer morphs in a couple years. Speaking to Mary is Tammy, the Edmonton Reptile Society President.

This is Ruth at her table. I picked up a couple of Ultramel het caramels and an Amel het caramel stripe off of her. Like last year, I learned a ton from my conversations with Ruth and I probably spent more time at her table than my own.

This is Kevin Letts (Herper's Delight) at his table. I am pretty sure he is just scratching his chest with his finger. He has the most awesome looking aztecs available and I picked up a 1.1 pair of them off of him.

This is Rebecca Purdom's table (Triple 'R' Corn Ranch). She was never at her table when I appeared to take pictures. I picked up a male Motley Butter off her.

This is our table (Alberta Corn Snakes). Kylie is infront showing some corns and, to the right, my brother, Adam, is sitting there looking helpful. To Kylie's left in the background is Denise Letts (Herper's Delight) and to her left is Kevin and his son, Ryzon.

This picture is another one of our table. Behind Kylie is Kevin again and behind him, standing up in the black, is Jasmine Lyster again from Canopy Chameleons.

This picture was taken at the BBQ on Saturday night.

On the left back row is Annette Thompson (Wrapped up in Reptiles), Jeff Hanney, Ken Lepage (Invictus Exotics), Rebecca Purdom (Triple 'R' Corn Ranch), Kevin Letts (Herper's Delight). In the front (in blue) is Mary Vanderkop, Ruth Hanney, Matt Kennedy and Kylie Malcomson (Alberta Corn Snakes). In the very front is Mark Isbell's better half, Robin.

I was unable to locate a spot that would allow me to take a full picture of the show, so I took the picture in three seperate pictures. I was mostly able to take pictures of the empty space that we did not use...the side with all the vendors on it was blocked by banners and people. Really, these pictures show nothing...

Finally, these are some pictures from the BBQ on Saturday night.

Hey Matt, thanks for posting the pics! I did see you guys! I didn't realize where you were there. I came up to Kevin's table at one point and was picking up a bunch of his aztecs and gawking at their patterns. I should have stopped and said, Hi, I am Yvonne, who the hell are you? LOL. Looks like the BBQ was a lot of fun!

Post pics of those ultramels when they are not shedding! I saw the bigger one Ruth had in the bigger display. He was a beauty! Good luck with the breeding on those.

Great photos, Matt. Of course, for someone who will be "getting a table" for the first time in the near future, it begs the question.....

Did you build your own display cases? If so, what kind of time/materials did it take? If not, where did you get them?

Thanks in advance for any response!

Dale

Camille, I have no banners at my table...right now. However, there is a great company based out of Leduc, Alberta who make banners for many of the vendors. They are awesome people and have sweet prices. They are A&J Decals and they can be reached at decals4u@shaw.ca. I will be sending them my banner request in the next week.

Dale, I wish I made my own display case. I could have sold more display cases than corns! I work in a federal penitentiary and I get my inmates to make them for me. The guy who made these display cases is actually being parolled in January and is refusing to take anymore orders from correctional officers. So, now I am SOL on getting more cases like them made up.

Both display cases are made out of oak and have purple heart inlays. They seem to attract most of my business...

Von, it's definitely too bad that you didn't stop to say hi. We have committed ourselves to the ERAS show in September though and to the Edmonton Mice and Things Show in October, so we can always meet there. One of the Ultramels of Ruth's shed as soon as we got it home on Saturday night, the other should shed today.

The show was a blast and I already can't wait until next year's. I'm sure glad I don't have to travel far though...At this point, Ruth still probably has another 25 hours of driving to do to get home. Sucks to be her...

That's it.

I'm moving to Canada and going on a crime spree, just so I can get my hands on some purple heart to work.

I can see why this guy is in demand, and I can only imagine what the cases look like in real life.

Quit beating the prisoners........then you could be friends for life.

Thanks for the pics Matt, looks like all went well and a good turnout. I was actually thinking Kevin had lost his other 3 fingers in an accident and was just trying to make a fist.

I agree as well, it's nice to put some faces to names on The Source.........will have a few to post tonight myself, in the Austin Reptile Expo.... thread.

These are a clouple of close ups of each of my displays. I'm very happy with them. I like getting a table at the shows just to show them off. It's amazing what he was able to build based on my very poor designs on napkins...

Ruth had a pretty awesome hatchling display too. I can't remember who she said made them for her.

Matt - I'd be happy to build more display cases for you, just drop me an email. I do cages, racks, incubators, displays, etc.

Here are a couple more pics that were snapped by my fiancee, to go with the ones above:
