Some of the matchups for 2007 have me very excited. Ramses, our caramel, het hypo and highly suspected het ultra is going to have some fun this year. Does he carry the ultra gene? Well, I'm going to breed him back to his daughter Fleur (from Ramses x Casper, our Ghost female) and see what's in the mix. If there are 2 hypo genes floating around recessively, hopefully we'll be able to see them visually when these hatchlings emerge.
We've also chosen a Ramses x Calypso matchup. Ultramels should be produced in this clutch. Ramses is not known to carry amel recessively. In 2006 he was bred with an Amel Stripe, het anery. No amels resulted, just suspected ultramels. The clutch was only 8 eggs, 6 of which hatched, so this year we are hoping Ramses x Calypso will yield a larger clutch and have more numbers to work with.
Well, after it 'rained today' in the breeding tanks, Ramses did the manly thing...Calypso was very receptive, in fact I think she's a little flirt. Her tail was up in the air and waiting. Ramses took his time showing interest but memory ( ) served him well.
Last year, Calypso was one of my first egg layers; hopefully 2007 is a repeat.
If successful, this clutch could yield some nice Ultramels.
Great to hear Ruth Keep that man working, so he can come work for me in a couple months
I took some pics of Brownie ( as named by my 6yr old) the lil Amber man I got from you, today. I'll have em up within the next couple days... He's a sweetie for sure.

I'm going to give him a few days rest before Fleur. She's had her post-brumation shed, so now I'm keeping a real close eye waiting for her 'ovulation' look.
Had a little chat with Ramses too...yah, I'm guilty of talking to my corns...told him all about the amber female as his reward for a 'job well done' here...
Fingers crossed for you that he's het Hypo and Ultra. That'd be awesome, and hopefully not too much of a headache when trying to identify the hatchlings. I'll definitely be watching for updates on Ramses and his ladies.
Well I've come to know Fleur's habits of late. Ramses' initial advances were refused, but I decided that couple of days of rest and a re-intoduction might spark the flame.
Nice fresh bedding change, a wonderful fresh killed mouse digested, ah, life seemed wonderful in Fleur's world. She made Ramses' day a little better too!
I'm so excited about this pairing...another year of solving the puzzle...piece by piece.
Yesterday morning, 14 days post shed, Calypso kindly presented us with her clutch of eggs from Ramses. I will admit, she had me a little worried during the whole ordeal. She laid 3 eggs, then stopped...about 3 hours later she began again and finished shortly after midnight last night.
Final count...11 pearly whites, with 2 slugs. Here's hoping a few of those eggs have 'ultramel' hatchlings inside.
Gotta find that 'patience' hat again and the 'Murphy swatter'...hmmm, they're somewhere...
