Banded Crimson Project Babies!

This is the second year I have worked on this project. I call it the Banded Crimson Project. My interest in this project began a few years ago when I saw a photo of a banded Miami. I liked the more starker, reddier tones on the hypo phase and thought, hey why not?

My female Crimson, Scarlett never lays large clutches but then when you lay 6 huge, and I mean huge eggs, there is just no room for more... The clutch was actually due to pip last Sunday and being a 'worrier' (yup, who'd have guessed.. ), I was peeking constantly since early Sunday morning. Last night around supper I finally saw 5 little heads poking thru.

Here's what greeted me this morning...

These hatchlings are huge! I won't need to start them on small pinks and work upwards; they'll easily be capable of first feeds of large pinkies. My keepers from last year from this pair are already on hoppers and are the largest in size of all my '07 holdbacks. I have a strong suspicions these guys will follow right along in their footsteps.

This hatchling has caught my eye in particular. I love how the saddles stretch almost completely to the belly.

Now I have to wait patiently till first shed when I can get a closer look at these treasures.

Ruth

Hi Ruth,

As always they're beautiful. I like the one with the "Y" on his head . Can't wait to see them after their shed also.

Congratulations!
