It's time to update this thread. The clutch is now shedding and some will start first feeds today.
I had a visitor come for the weekend much to my dismay... ...Mr. Murphy! This is my fifth year at the breeding game but the FIRST year that I've ever lost hatchlings during first sheds. Yup...while checking hatchlings containers yesterday morning one of the blizzards hatchlings had died. Several of the others in the clutch had shed, all but for the last three. Last night, I was working late in the snake room when I remembered that I should check further with this clutch and see if the remaining 3 had finally shed.
Even I can get emotional at times. Just yesterday morning I had watered and changed the lav blood's container. I'd even taken it out for another look and remarked to Jeff that I was really excited to see the post shed colouration on this little one. It was not to be! The lavender blood is now gone too.
Needless to say...I'm disappointed but there is always next year to try again.
Everybody else in the clutch has now shed except for the lavender, het blood. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I have no surprises with this little one.
Mr. Murphy also decided this will NOT be the year for HanneysCorns to have bloodreds. Sunday morning is 'egg checking' day and although last week the clutch looked fine, this week, my clutch of Bloodred, het stripe x Granite, het amel is now 'toast'.
Yup...every breeding season there are highlights. We gladly post about the successes and share our joy at seeing these new arrivals. To some folks it may appear that every clutch is successful when they only read about the good. Hey...it's not always 'chocolate cake'; sometimes you got to swallow the 'Buckley's' too when required.
The best things about the disappointments...we learn from them, we correct our mistakes, and then we look forward to next season. There is joy and there is sadness in this hobby; we have to be able to accept both.
Ah my hart go's out to you Ruth I know how much you wanted this clutch so sorry to here and all the hard work you have gone through keep your fingers crossed that next year will be better for you

I've got my fingers crossed that next year will turn out better for you. For now you can be happy for the hatchlings who have made it. (Which I'm sure you are, of course.)
Damn Ruth.. I am sorry to hear about the Plasma.. I am certain that was one you were eyeing so carefully and had on your mind quite a bit.. Get lost Murphy.. Just leave!
