A little help!

Ok im going to make this a little quick. I lost a Snow after feeding and hes a neonate. Anyways i found him like a week and a half later and he semmed stressed so I put him back in his tank and didnt touch him for like 6 days to let him de-stress. When I went in today he has a black thing on his tail like a old shed and it seems infected anyways i put polysporin on it and put in a spagnum moss container. is that all i can really do now?? Any help would be great!
