Question Mites?

Hi All:

I am relatively new and have been doing a more lurking and reading and finally decided to post. I have 8 snakes 7 full blood corns and 1 creamsicle that is quite shy. My problem is that 2 of the corns I bought at Petco.....I know, big mistake, but nevertheless, that is what happend. They are all housed seperately but now i have discovered the two from Petco have mites. I have started a regimine of soaking the snakes for half hour or more in water while I clean their viv's and disinfect etc. So far it seems to have kept the problem from escalating but I am wondering if there are any other things to do. One person I "spoke" to on another group advised puting Hot Shot in the room I keep the snakes in and he swears by it. I have so far soaked and disinfected twice. The furniture in the viv's is small logs and coconut halves which were soaked in a bleach solution and rinsed well then microwaved until steaming. I can't imagine a mite or egg surviving that.

Does anyone have any other suggestions. I haven't put vegetable oil on them which was another suggestion but they seem to be improving. So I am just looking to make sure there isn't something further I should know as I am relatively new to this and these snakes are not yet a year old. The two involved are an albino and a snow.

Thanks for your help and any responses I do appreciate!

Lori
