I am newbie to the snake world and previously introduced myself under another room. I have a quick question about night time for a corn snake. Do I keep the undertank heater on at night while the other lights are off? I am pretty sure I do but I wanted to double check myself.
My husband and I set the tank up over the weekend. We decided to check the temperature tonight rather than waiting until tomorrow when we (hopefully) bring the snake home. We had the undertank heater on, UV light and heat lamp because of the air conditioner in the room. Unknowingly, the heat lamp bulb blew so with the UTH and UV light the temperature came to 75 degrees (roughly). If the light was properly working I am guessing it would have been at least 80 degrees. We are going to get the bulb tomorrow.
We are currently using the stick on thermometer that changes colors rather than one with a dial. Is that okay? We are planning to get one for the cool side, too. Is that right? I read on here it is best to keep the thermometers closer to the substrate so I moved it down from the top, which makes total sense.
Well, I better head off. Thanks in advance for your help. I am sure you will be hearing a lot from me since this is my first snake.
Have a nice night/day, (depending where you live)
