Housing question

Just a quick question about housing. I've heard many people say that a young snake can be spooked in a large tank. I'm getting a hatchling in september and have a 30g tank setup for the adult enclosure. Has anyone had a problem putting a hatchling into a vivarium this size? I can easily close off part of the aquarium or setup a smaller 10g or 15g tank until hey grows into the larger one, but I am wondering if this is necessary. I plan to be feeding in a separate container, and am going to be adding multiple hide to the enclosure if any of that helps.
