Hey everyone! This is my first post here, and I really need some input please! I purchased my first amelanistic corn (I've named his Jericho) just over 6 weeks ago. (Not handled as much as he should have been for a while, a little twitchy at first, but ultimately fine with being handled. He's a stunning 1 1/2 year old healthy male, approximately 3 feet long, and when we met we got along famously (still do accept for this one incident...) and I knew he had to be mine. Of course, home with me he came! When I got him up he was living in an opaque tupperware container measuring inches 15w x 12d x 12h. Definately not big enough! I was finally able to get him a 20 gallon long aquarium this Sunday so now he's all set up and loving it! Okay, let me get to the point already....! I've fed him once a week since I've had him, 3 hoppers at a time, in a eparate (even more opaque but same size)) tupperware container. This is what he's always been used to. Last night was feeding night and he was absolutely fine when I took him out of his new home. Gave me kisses and all, but when I placed him in his feeding area he became a different snake! He was not at all impressed with this and he expressed this by striking at the lid while I was (slowly) locking it and pushing to get out. It took him about 5 minutes to finally notice his food. When he did it was gone in no time. So I figured all would be well. Hmmmm.... not the case. When I took off the lid he was jumpy and would not let me pick him up to move him back into his house (normal routine). I was afraid he would strike so I gently tipped the container over his house and let him slide in. I got the same (striking) reaction when I put that lid on! He was very nervous for the rest of the night as well, even though his cage is kept in a low traffic area. Any thoughts on this wacky reaction? Do you think perhaps he just hated being placed back into such a small space? Help!!!!
