popping

hi all
recently got two new baby corns
have been showed how to do 'popping' by a breeder several times so decided to try.
My snow corn we new was male for sure, so started with him and in no time out came the hemephenes clear as day. My ghost is meant to be female so I tried to pop her too. What I got was two little tube things either side nowhere near as long as my snow(same age etc)these were literally about a millimetre in length compared to the snow whose hemephenes must have been 4/5 millimetres approxiamately in length.
Can anyone explain?
The breeder thought she was female as could not pop out anything.
