For those of us with rack systems - it's something we hate.
I thought I'd post my method, since I'm in the middle of it right now, and with my method, the sticky stuff that seems better than superglue isn't a problem.
I use sterilite tubs.
1) set up clean tub and move snake.
2) dump bedding
3) quickly scrape off the stuff that easily enough comes off into trash.
4) Quick rinse with hot water
5) Spray with anti-bacterial 409 (or anti-bacterial fantastic) - let sit for 10 minutes or so. Watch the egg cam, play solitare, whatever. I let them sit in the bathtub.
6) use shower head - only hot water - fill the tubs and let them sit another 10 minutes. By then - a sponge easily gets the snake supergoo off.
7) little dish soap in each one - repeat step 6
8) shower head on warm water (not hot, don't scald yourself) go over each tub individually with a sponge and the shower head - rinsing them out of the dish soap - they come out really clean.
9) shake mostly dry and finish air dry outside - and they are again ready for use.
I personally find the ammonia solutions that some people use really bothersome, I can't stand the smell of it. The anti-bacterial 409 should kill the germs, and either the 409 in combination with the hot water soak or the hot water soak itself does a really good job at loosening the sticky poo, it just comes right off. The dish soap step is just an extra step that may not be necessary, but dish soap it cheap and lathers nicely for the final wipe down.
