Power Outage/Disaster Preparation?

I don't have a snake yet, but I've been reading through the forums here for a few weeks, learning all I can. Snakes obviously need to be kept warm, and it got me thinking about the windstorms we had here in WA back in December 2006 that caused extensive power outages. Some folks were without power for a considerable length of time, and December is not a good time of the year to be without power (though at least winters are milder here than in many places).

In searching through the forum I found this thread about what to keep in a snake first aid kit, which was quite helpful but it didn't address what to do in a power outage/other disaster situation. So, how does everyone here prepare for something like a power outage? Keep heat packs on hand? Move your animals to a friend's/relative's that does have power? Have a generator? Track down someone with a working freezer who's willing to have your frozen pinkies and fuzzies sitting next to their Lean Cuisines?
