Our cornsnake won't eat, and her scales are flaking
Hello,
Our baby albino cornsnake has not eaten since we've had her (8/25), and her scales appear to be flaking off? We thought she'd eaten a live pinkie 2 weeks ago, but found it in her tank last night after investigating..She laid on the same rock shelf all day and into the night (usually she hides in her house during the day, and moves around a lot at night--We have a 40gal tall tank w/2 jade plants, vines, house, and water bowl). When my husband took her out, she wasn't moving right--kind of lethargic, and some of her scales appear to be flaking off.
We've tried live and f/t pinkies. I think tonight we'll be getting one of each and my husband plans to try the live first, and if that doesn't work, he's going to cut the f/t in half (we're thinking they may be too big for her?)
Any thoughts/ideas? How do you get a baby to eat the first time? We have no idea how old she was when we got her and if/when she'd last eaten. We're really worried about her. And re: the flaking scales, is that due to not eating?
