Has anyone ever, or know of, a successful mating of a Mexican Black kingsnake and a cornsnake? And what the results would be if bred to an anery or amel?
I've seen crosses that were 75% corn and 25% MBK, which means the original 50/50 pairing must have been possible. They looked a lot like Jungle Corns and didn't have as much melanin as one would think, but again, they weren't 50/50.
These were done and I believe they were referred to as 'forest corns'. From what I can recall the first generation looked a lot like muddy jungle corns - the jungle corn type body, saddle pattern, muddy tan ground color and brown saddles without much border. I have not seen photos of the F2, but out of a breeding to amel or anery corn I expect those would remain hidden in the F1, would be expressed in the F2 - similar to what happens with jungle corns. Given that the mexican black is patternless you might get patternless coming out in the next generation too - though I am not sure it if would be inherited as a single gene recessive.
