My clutch of Reverse Okeetee x Amel Jungle started hatching a few days ago. We were expecting all amel jungles, but that's not all we got... Neither parent has any known hets (the jungle's parents were: cal king/ghost corn and amel corn) We've gotten about 1/2 amels and 1/2 some sort of "snow" or something. Maybe they're just very pale amels that will brighten with growth. But I don't know, so I am asking for a little advice.
What do you think? Are these snow jungles? Or pale amels? Here are a few really bad pics to help out. They are only 1-2 days old, but I just gotta know!!
One of the "snows"
One of each
Another of each (I just love that "snow"s head pattern!)
Thanks!! I'm surprised at how king-y they are, since they're only 12.5% king (roughly). One of the brighter colored ones hissed, rattled its tail, and tried to bite me... or maybe it did bite me; not quite sure! LOL
You know, I am thinking they just might be snow jungles. Their heads are pretty white and show no red, while the other ones have quite a bit of red on their head. I guess they'd end up being more of a yellow snow, because of the king in them. Am I right in thinking it is very possible?
Peaches' mom was cal king/ ghost cross which could have made peaches het for anery. Diabetes has no known hets and has not bred before, so its possible that he could be het for anery as well. That would give me some Amels and some Snows, right? They're just funny looking snows because of the king in them?
It'd be nice if all my snakes threw me surprises like this! LOL
those are great - thats what I need in my hybrid collection - should be interesting to see if they change dramatically like some normal snows do, our snow went from an almost lavender looking snow to one of those yellowish ones with a strong green accent..
either way, they are neat looking, congrats
save me a good one
hmm

do you mean the corn was the result of a ghost x amel corn?
and this was bred to a cal king to get the jungle corn you bred to the reverse okeetee?
if this is true the ghost x amel would produce normals het amel het anery het hypo.
I'm not 100% sure how the corn gebetics cary over into the jungles but if those gentics remained then you had a jungle het for anery, amel and hypo.
Now if the reverse okeetee happened to be het anery, which is easily possible, then there is a chance of snows.
all this is simple conjecture and works if the corn genetics remain and work the same.
Peaches' mom was cal king x ghost corn cross. Her mom was bred to an amel corn and Peaches was made. I then bred Peaches to my RO corn.
But now that they have shed, they look more like a yellow amel (?) With yellow background, orange splotches, and thick white borders. Basically, they look just like Peaches!
Sounds like pretty normal amel jungles. Many will have more kingsnake banding with the bright yellow and some orange/red that comes in in the middle of the saddles. Very nice babies. Get more pics!
