When Hurley found those bairdi corns I just had to go check them out. I picked up a male anery and female normal from the same guy. The group of them showed such a great variety of phenotypes, as you should expect from hybrids. Anyway, here are Abra and Capocus.
Very nice pair - F2 I assume? I have seen F1 hatchlings before but not second generation. The normal looks very corn-like. It will be interesting to see if the patterns diminish on these as they do on Bairds or if you get any of that metallic look to them as they mature. Really looking forward to seeing progression shots of these,

Select Emoryi/Corns
This photo of F2s is the reason I've always wanted Bairdi Corns. It was posted by Don S on KS years ago and by the time I'd emailed a short "MINE", they were gone. The guy we purchased the bairdi corn hybrids from said he'd seen this same photo back then, tried to buy them and was also too late, so he made the cross himself. He had F1 normals het amel and anery from a snow x Bairdi paring as well as some F2 Amels and Anerys on the table for sale.
I got a pair of F2s (an anery and an amel, possible het for the opposite gene) and a pair of normals that are supposed to be F1s het for amel and anery. We'll find out in a few years.
I really need to make the cross with some good genes some day...
