What am I?

Hey there,

here's one of my hatchlings. Its brothers and sisters look like classics, but what kind of snake is this?
A corn mixed up with what else?
Parents look like classic corns.
I'm sorry for the bad quality.

I agree Shaky.

After first shed you should see that colour darken. I've had a few clutches of amels that looked exactly like that; within 2 or 3 sheds the colour starts to fill in.

So now you proved both the classic parents het amel. Congrats! It's always nice to have an oddball in the clutch...such a pleasant surprise when you least expect it.

Okay,
thanks for your reply.
And you're sure its a pure corn?
Its blotches look somehow different.
And there are no borders around the blotches.
But I would be glad if the corn is not a hybrid, otherwise one of its parents is one.
Can you show me a pic of yours, so I can see how mine will look
like when the snake is a little bit older

Here are some pics of the '07 clutch which consisted of of opals and very light 'peachy' hatchlings similar in colour to your hatchling. At first I had a hard time distinguishing the opals from the amels. Lexcorn, an experienced member here from the UK advised me to wait it out a couple of sheds and I should be able to differentiate. She scores a 100% in my books with her advice. True to her word, the peachy ones went on to become full fledged amels with the brightest orangey reds after a few sheds.

If you do a search in the genetics or breeding forum under 'opals' you might even find that thread from last year.

Colour is one of the last stages of development in the egg...some are just late starters and continue to develop their colouration, the reds, after hatching.
