Yearling racks??? What do you think....

Hi,

If you haven't seen my hatchling racks or know what I'm talking about...you can go here:
Hatchling Racks

This is a new prototype unit I'm working on. It holds the zip-loc containers that are bigger. These are the larger serving ones...almost 11 inches long by 4 or 5 inches. I'll get exact measurements when I'm in the shop. What do you guys think?

Any interest if I start making these? There will be no heat but you could easily run back heat on them. They'll probably run in the $75-100 range depending on how many I make and the time and cost of materials.

What do you think?

Hmm... it's hard to tell the exact dimensions from the picture, but the container feels a little small for yearlings... Dunno. I'd almost use that as a larger hatchling rack.

You are right....but they could house small yearlings. Basically, my goal with this rack was to make something bigger than my hatchling racks yet smaller than a full adult rack. Here is a better picture to see the size.....sorry I forgot it the first time.

Well.....owning one of your hatchling racks, I would say that these would come in handy just as well as the snakes get bigger. I guess it would just depend on the "supply and demand" you are getting for the smaller ones.......if you see a big turnover in your hatchling racks and think that these would go over just as good, I say go for it. I would more than likely be interested. Keep us updated.

Hey Jeff,
ya know it's really wild that you did this, the reason I say that is, I use those exact containers for my hatchlings and I was going to email you to see if you were interested in building racks for them
Just to let everyone know, these containers are PERFECT for hatchlings.
(pictured is the rack I built)

Jeff,
would the $75- $100 include shipping and would you consider a quantity discount?
If so, what would the discount terms be and the price per unit?

Thanks, Walter

Walter...not sure yet. I need to figure out costs of materials for the units as well as the price of boxes and shipping. Then I need to decided whether I'm trimming these models and including the containers etc... Also, it is a royal PAIN to custom make these individually...with my hatchling racks I have a jig made up so the measurements are all done. With these, however, I haven't made a jig as there is no use sitting in the shop for a day making a jig to make things no one wants.

I'll keep you updated...sometime next week should have it all priced out.

Sounds good man. Let me know. I'm curious to see the price difference in what I made vs. what they will cost from you.

Thanks Jeff.
