I'm curious do you breed them for pleasure? Do you sell these little guys and if you do to who? I dont suppose you milk them? They are beautiful by the way looks like you got a great clutch. I know they eat there own kind so how soon after they hatch do you need to seperate them? Sorry for all the questions.

Those are quite amazing hatchlings! Congratulations.

I am also full of questions. How do you remove the eggs from the mom! How much of a market is there for these guys and how do you get them to the buyer?

Thanks to all for the comments. This is my first clutch of cobras and it was a fun experience. One more check mark on my "species to breed list".

I already had a buyer lined up for the whole clutch so I did not have to separate into individual containers and start the feeding process. I do not milk them as there are a few labs that do that and they supply more than enough of the venom needed for medical testing.

I am VERY careful when working with the mother. I use tongs and hooks to manipulate her in and out of her cage and in and out of a holding cage (garbage can). She is about as protective of her eggs as a corn...move the snake away and they forget about the eggs.

As far as buyers...there are a lot of people who keep hots and a lot of those that shouldn't! I wholesale the clutch to a reputable breeder who then resells them to the public. The people I sell to are very reputable and aren't the kind of people who will sell them to the wrong kind of person....or at least that is my hope. Price....well, at the last HOT show in South Carolina I saw the albinos for about $150 and the normals ran about $75-100. Take a look at the venomous section at kingsnake.com sometime and it'll surprise you what these dangerous creatures go for.

I am shocked that these sell for so little! It just makes it that much easier for someone who shouldn't be handling these to think they can.

I am really in awe of them! They really are cute little hatchlings. Thanks for posting the photos and info.
