New member from Canada

Hello everyone,

my name is Mike and was very pleased to find a forum on Corn Snakes as my wife and I will hopefully be purchasing our first pair in the very near future. We are in central Ontario. Maybe someone from this site knows some breeders in Ontario? We are already amazed at the incredible amount of information found on this site and especially pleased with the responses to questios from Newbies like ourselves. We are really looking forward to having Corn Snakes as members of our family.

Welcome to The Source.......enjoy your stay and have fun. Once you get your snakes, please post some pics for us in the photo gallery. There are quite a few Canadians on this site (actually, it was started by a Canadian) and you can check on the "Google Map" link towards the top to see who is close to you. Also, there should be some more people welcoming you here, and they would be able to tell you some breeders in your area. Welcome again.

Galen

Hi Mike...welcome to The Source.

Being in Central Ontario, you have lucked out. Not only do you have access to breeders, but you also have reptiles shows available to you in both Ottawa and Mississauga.

There are several areas of the Source you can check out. Many Canadian breeders have sub-forums here, and they will keep you up to date on what they will have available. There is also the Reptile Show and Events forum, and there is a Canadian section there to keep you updated on shows in your local area. And we've even got our own For Sale section as well, for those breeders not having forums but are site members.

Once hatchlings season starts, there will be plenty of babies for you to choose from to start your collection...and I say collection just to warn you. One is never enough. Corns are highly addictive!

Now you can't say you weren't WARNED....

Enjoy the website! Ask your questions. We're here to help...on both sides of the border and across the pond.

Ruth

Welcome aboard..... This is really dumb coming from a fellow Canadian, and Ontarian to boot. Which part on ON. is considered central? I'm from SW ON, but am unsure which would be considered Central ON.

As Ruth already mentioned, the reptiles shows in Missisauga are wonderful. I've never been to the Ottawa ones, as it's quite the drive from the London area. There's a bunch of us ON. breeders, maybe you'll luck out as I did when I first started, and find one that you can actually go to their home and pick your snake ( which is dangerous I might add LOL.... many a time, I'd go to pick up one, come home with 3 or 4 LOL) I always liked that part in picking my snakes, being able to see them in their normal environment as opposed to at shows where they may be a little off colour from stress, etc. ( no I'm not discouraging show purchases, just saying that I lucked out and most of my breeders were handpicked)

Anyways, welcome again. Do check the googlemap to see who may be close to you

Feeling quite at home.

Wow I can tell from the warm welcomes that I am definetly getting into the right hobby if that's the right term for raising Corns. To answer ChristinaM's question Central Ontario is kind of a vague area it seems to change from day to day. I am from Rosseau a little village in the Muskoka Lakes (cottage country). Looking forward to attending my first reptile show.
