Hey everyone.
I already caught the bug. My kids and I went from 1 snake to a full dozen in less than a year. We have plans to breed our 2 adult corns this year for the first time. It will be a great learning experience.
Hi Steve! It's great to have you here. Sounds like you have a nice collection. I look forward to seeing pics of them. Good luck with your first year breeding. If you have any questions, there are lots of great people here to help. It's lots of fun. My kids really love our snakes and seeing those cute little pippy noses peeking out of the eggs. It's definitely been a great experience. You'll have to let us know how it's going. Fingers crossed that all goes well. Welcome and enjoy your visits!
Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find a lot of great information and helpful people here.
So did the kids get you into the snakes or vice versa? And who is more hooked now!
In my case it was my son who wanted a snake and now my whole family thinks I am nuts (probably right too)! Our first ever snake was 4 years ago and we have 32 now with 4 gravid females!
David, good to see someone else in Charlotte. Maybe we can hook up at the Charlotte show.
Joni, thanks for the nice welcome.
WestExHerps, I'm one of your customers. I bought a pastel BP from you at the Columbia, SC show last year (I had my son with me). I also plan on being at the Charlotte show.
MohrSnakes, I also met you at the Columbia show. I've been eyeballing your hatchling racks.
Joanna, OK, here's the story. My roommate in college had a Ball Python and an Emerald Tree Boa (this is back in the late 80's early 90's). My son wanted a new pet and I always liked my roommates snakes. So, we bought a Ball Python. I started an extensive research into snake care and ran across cornsnakes and the cornsnake community. I liked the idea of breeding morphs. So, we bought a pair of 2005's with some hets. Well, I didn't want to wait 3 years to breed. So, we bought a pair of adults from Kathy Love. To get my daughter (age 11) into the snake thing (at first she wouldn't even go into the snake room, now she wants to hold them all the time) I had to get some purple snakes (her favorite color). So, we bought a pair of 2006 lavenders.
Oh, and my son (age 8) made me move the snake rack into his room. He has to check them all before bed each night. He likes to help with the feeding, but not the cleaning.
I think we are all hooked.
Sounds good. The next show Ill be going to is the Spartanburg show on April 14th. Its the first time its ever been there so maybe it will be good.
Actually, it has been there once before. It was a decent show for me but other people complained. It is run by Repticon and Cathy and Danny and there is a bunch of advertising so I expect it to do well. I'll be there!
