Talking Newbie Intro from WA St

Hello!

We just got our first cornsnake this past Thursday.
Our 9yr old daughter promptly named him JC- short for "Just Corn". No kidding.

He seems to be settling in well.
We have him in a 15long tank with a "tree" in the middle & 2 hides- one in the warm, the other in the cool side. (temps about 73F on the cool to 90F on the hot- yes, we are using a digital thermometer with a probe)
We have seen him drink (wonder to see!) but haven't fed yet- waiting till Monday to do so. (trying to keep the same feeding schedule he's used to.)
Loves his hides but seems to like to cruse about.

He's a Okeetee and is just over a foot long.
Could anyone give me a guess-tament about when he might have been hatched?

I hope to post a pic soon.

90 degrees sounds like it's too hot, but I'm no expert on the subject. I'm a n00b too.

. J.C....What a great name for a corn!

Sounds like he is settling in nicely...exploring his new home will keep him busy for a few days. Your setup sounds excellent, although I would try and keep the temperature on the warm side no higher than 85 F if possible.

You're doing the right thing by letting him adjust before trying to feed him. Some new owners get disappointed when their new baby won't eat right away, but allowing him the opportunity to acclimatize to his new surroundings first is really what's best for him right now.

I'll guesstimate his age somewhere around 6 - 9 months only because most little ones are hatched sometime in the early to late summer.

Enjoy your little one! Post pics when you can.
