Exclamation Hey Guys!!

I am Lindsey and I'm new to this forum and was reffered by a members wife from another forum. I am also a huge bulldog fan so maybe some can guess who, LOL. I am not new to snakes, have been owning them for years. I have never had a cornsnake though, always pythons and boas. My other half has had kings before. Currently I have a common boa (pandora) and a blood python (diablo), plus my beardie (loki). In the non repile world I am proud mom to my american bulldog scarlet and my american pit bull terrier clutch. I am very interested in breeding boas one day and am open and ready for the wealth of information anyone has to offer. I hope to learn a lot from the folks here. (Some of the pics on here are amazing )

Thanks for reading!!!!!

Welcome fellow American Bulldog owner.......I think my wife (Denise) would be the guilty party. I would also agree with some of the above statements......get into Corns and you might eventually have a zoo at your place. LOL Take a look around the "Morph Gallery" at the many different types out there, I am sure you may find 1 or 4 that would interest you.

There are quite a few members on here that are involved in boas/pythons/kings/milks/etc.(myself included)....but, being a Corn Snake site the majority of the discussions do tend to lean towards the corns.

Welcome again Lindsey and enjoy your stay......will be waiting to see your new corn(s) by the end of the year.

Thanks!

Well, you all were right. I got a bonus check today and my bf wants to go and get another snake. He wants to get a grey banded kingsnake. I have no clue what to get! I am going to a breeder near me...herp hpbby shop...in oldsmar FL to check out what hes got. Its a great shop, anyone ever in the area you should check them out! Tomorrow I should have a new addition to the family!

Any advise on what to get????

<G> That's such an open ended question Lindsey, it's hard to know how to advise you.

Take a peek in the morph gallery, assuming you want to buy a corn, and check out what appeals to you. Age of the snake you buy can be an issue, depending on the size of enclosure or container you've got space for. Price can also be a big factor, hatchling corns can sell from $15-$1,000..it depends on the morph and the seller.

Also, depending on the snake's age...the size of food you can easily get and-or keep on hand for the snake.

Hopes this helps a bit...btw, I'm partial to Motleys, Bloodreds and Lavanders .

Right now I want to get a young one, but not too young...I am looking for at least 10 feeds under his belt.We are about to move our boa into a china cabnet that we made into a cage. Until se moves I have a 10gal. Once we move the boa he can have her cage which is a 35 gal. Food wont be an issue we already get frozen feeders! Price for it, I am looking at nothing more than $100 for now, I need to also get another lamp, light, water bowl, etc. I will be cheking the morph section all day today, I am sure~

Thanks for the advice...this is so hard! LOL

Lindsey...

$100 as a max is not bad for a lot of young morphs. Sounds like you'd be looking for an 06 or older based on feeds. Adults and sub-adults can be more expensive, again, depends on the morph and the seller.

Some breeders may have 07 corns to 10 feeds, but you're talking an early 07 there. Many breeders are in the thick of the 07 hatching time of year right now. <G>

A 35 Gal. tank is really large for a young snake....so based on that you'd be looking at an adult or a healthy sub-adult. The 10 gal. would last a young corn several years...so again, you have a lot of options available to you.

Also, corns don't need more light than daylight, they're nocturnal by nature. No need to invest in a light.

Again, hope this helps some
