Nice to meet you all! :)

Hello from San Antonio!

I just bought my first corn snake today and I am so excited! She's a beautiful little albino and I'll post some pics after she gets settled in.

I've had a ball python for 2 years and I can already tell that this is going to be a completely different experience. She lively, curious, and her colors are so vibrant.

Anyway, take care everyone!

Rach

*Pixie's First Pix*

Hi everyone!

Here is Pixie, my very first cornsnake. The camera flash made her look orangey-red in some of the pictures, but she's actually more of a mauvey-rose...She's exactly the same color as my very chipped nail polish! At the bottom are pics of my ball python, Simon. He's a big, fat, happy boy.

Anyway, without further ado:

Love his bands

Thanks guys!

Ok im sorry im lost again, as usual.. Showz what a dumb bunny i really am. Rachel you called your corn snake a albino. To me it looks like a reverse okeetee. I have heard of the black albino and in fact daughter has one. Your albino has me stumped again. * sighs. Could some one try and clue me in this one please??
Pixie is a very cute one Rachel and your ball is a handsome one. Thanks for the pic's.

A Reverse Okeetee is an Amel........the same way that a Candy Cane and a Sunglow are. They are just selectively bred Amels for their particular look.

The RO's have wider white borders to look like an opposite of regular Okeetees with their dark black borders.

The Candy Canes are made to contain more white on the background and also to be that of a dark red (or orange in some lines) to resemble what you would hang on the tree during the holidays.

And the Sunglow's are bred to be an orange/red/white snake without any traces of white on it.

Red albinos are the amels........black albinos are the anery's. Hope this helps you out a bit.

Sorry Pixie.......got off on another task and forgot to comment on your snakes. Very nice pick-ups you got there. Did you finally decide and pick them up locally here in Texas? Welcome to the addiction, will be looking forward to more corn snake photos. LOL

Thanks Galenwbritt,

I got Simon from Colette Sutherland at The Snake Keeper. Nice folks and top notch breeders.

I purchased Pixie from a local store called River City Exotics. They breed their own snakes and also get snakes from a local breeder.

I cannot wait to go to NARBC! I know I'll end up taking another corn home...
