thanks for the encouragement i got another baby corn yesterday a snow corn and i named it Maleficent its a little bigger than the first one i got but they get along fine and i think my other one is more active now that it has another snake in the terrerium with him do you think it was a good idea to get another snake to make him comfortable? also, do you think it a good idea to buy a night-time bulb for the snakes? i have a basking bulb and its rather bright when i try to sleep at night....

It is always best to research the forum before you make decisions to do things like cohabitation.

I was considering co-habiting my 2 yearling males, but after looking around on the forum I decided against it.

Most of the people here will say NO to cohabiting. The risks are just two great. Especially with hatchlings. There IS a small chance of cannibalism, and that is why I chose not too, and from what I can tell, the smaller the snakes are, the more of a chance there is of one eating the other, and the chance is also greater if one is bigger than the other.

The extra activity may be from stress and not from comfort. Most snakes do no care for companionship and therefore are stressed out by another snake in there territory.
I do believe that adding a new snake to the already stressed snake was probably a bad idea and if you can, you may want to seperate them.

Also, if by chance one is male and one is female considering you have named them as such, this could lead to early breeding, if they stay together that long, and that will be very dangerous for the female.

Sorry for the long post. tried to keep it as short and to the point as possible.

ps. If your tank is big enough. you may be able to put a separation in the middle of the tank, so they are seperate. If you can't get another tank, but each snake would still need all the necessities as the first one had.

i'm from close to baton rouge
denham springs to be exact

my snow corn ate yesterday
and i was extremely shocked by it because i just got it the night before last
and i wasn't expecting it to eat for another 3 to 4 days
but i guess the little sucker was hungry haha

Msskellington has covered the thoughts on cohibating. I could add another, that would be each should be quarintined for a period of time. If they were in the same store and same tank that point is mote. lol In most stores the hatchlings are all kept together. At least in my area that is true.
Im not sure he/she is uncomfortable with another one with it as like i said most stores keep them all together and it just might feel more natural for him/her. To keep them together is frowned on but ultimately they are yours and it is your decision to make.

One danger is is one is male and the other female they can breed to early and you could lose the female but that won't happen for awhile. Some people cohabitate the females or male's with no problems.
You mention a "basking" light that is bright. If thats not the source of heat perhaps you would like a blu light or if its a heat source perhaps a red light?? Corn snakes are nite feeders as a rule so a light at nite is not needed. I use a fluorescent uvb bulbs but thats just cause it lights the tanks up well when i am in there or i or someone wants to see. I personally don't feel it hurts them to have a lil uvb either.
Well i'll stop rattling on and it seems you are well on your way into the addiction..
