I just got a corn snake hatchling and I've had him for about 3 days now and the store I got him from said the day after I got him was supposed to be feeding day and he didn't eat and still doesn't seem interested in food. I know he has to get use to the new environment before he'll be comfortable with eating but can anyone tell about how long this might take so I don't keep myself too worried?
Thnx
I got my corns the day after they were fed. So, i waited a week and fed them. It was all fine.
From what I've heard from others. Stress will cause a snake to refuse food. So moving into an entirely new home will cause some stress. I'd wait another 2-3 days and try to feed again. Snakes can go a few weeks without eating. So don't stress too much.
As long as temps are alright and he gets settled. Things should even out.
O and IF by chance he regurges when he does feed. Which stress can do too. Wait about 8-10 days before trying to feed again.
As mentioned above.....a few more days will not hurt anything. One concern that I do have is: Did the store have a problem feeder to begin with? It may just need a few more days rest.....but with mom/pop shops (or chain pet stores for that matter) a lot of the time they don't give ALL the information needed to the purchaser.
Just wait a few more days and try again. If there are still refusals you may want to contact the store and pry for more information. Don't stress yet......it's still too early.

p.s.....it's mandatory for all new members to post pics of their snakes when they join.

yeah, even tho i got no replies to my snakey snakes....i just told them its cuz they're too pretty for words...lol....
thanks for the replies guys that makes me feel relieved.i did some research and called the pet store and they said the snakes were all eating fine there it was probably just because i just got him. i intend on putting up pictures as soon as i get my camera operating. i don't know if my snake is a male or a female but i named it Malachai from children of the corn. catchy eh? thanks again by the way. nice to talk to people who actually know something about snakes! i bought a book so i'm not a blind owner.

I have had a few like that myself (as well as others on the forum).....it just comes with the territory. As long as you like what you have, it doesn't matter what ANYBODY else thinks of them. I have definitely seen a few $20 & $30 snakes that were more "eye appealing" to me than some ranging $200 or more.
However, I did say to post some pics........which means I will look at them, but it doesn't require me to open my mouth.
Some pictures aren't worth 1000 words......quite a few times they simply require a at the monitor.

Hello and welcome to the source Bitrswtsimphony. I also send congrads to you on your new snake.
Like has been said it is to early to worry to much about its refusal. Perhaps this is a good time to double or triple ck out the husbandry? Double ck the temps on both the warm and cool end in its home with a digital with probe or temp gun to make sure they are correct. Perhaps something else to think about. Was the pinkie very warm when you fed it? Seems most perfer a nice warm meal. Like memtioned wait several days before trying to feed again.
Hope it eats soon for you and hope to see a pic of your new snake soon....
